From November 21 to 23, 2024, FAF was in Patna, Bihar, India. One day, FAF visited Bihar Veterinary College in Patna, one of the oldest in India, established in 1923. Bernard gave a lecture and conducted practical horse examinations. The students showed great interest in learning about farriery, a subject previously unknown to them, and they had not considered that it could be a very interesting profession.
Following this, there were two days at Sonpur Mela (horse fair) where 2500 horses were presented for sale. The atmosphere was reminiscent of old times under the tent, enjoying chai with the horse dealer. It was a great moment, but upon observing the horses’ feet, it wasn’t so great! There is much work to be done to spread knowledge and make the Indian horse community aware of our farriery Institute.
